Tesla has set up their Experience Center at La Cantera and it looks like it will be there a couple months - until December 27th. I'll wander by and check it out this weekend (after the deluge), but I believe it's their mobile store that looks like this:

Well, it was pretty underwhelming - just a car and a couple of banners. No one seemed to be there. perhaps the mobile store was elsewhere, but I walked around for a bit and saw nothing.

Yes, that's what I saw the first Saturday it was open. I thought it was a Titanium colored car though. They must have several and switch them out. When I was there, there were 2 Tesla product specialists answering questions, and they had a laptop or tablet they could use to sign people up for mailing list and test drives.

It's a little odd having the Porsche CPO banner right there, but I suspect that was there before the Tesla display.

Talking to the salesman at the center, he said that the location for the Service Center will be at 1604 and 281 and will be available "before I need Service on my Model S" (I am ordering around the first of the year). He also said if they get enough interest from the experience center, it may become a Showroom/Service Center/Super Charger like the new Houston location.

I take all of this with a health dose of salt, but the main takeaway I have is the it will be a new build in the 1604/281 area.

We're watching for the new San Antonio location in the San Antonio Service Center thread. Long story short, you are wise to take the news with a dose of salt.

The first location we were watching was in the 1604/281 area, but that one fell through. Next was further west, near 1604 and I-10, on the other side of I-10 from La Cantera. So either things have changed again, or your salesman had very out-of-date info. I'm really not sure which.

But for what it's worth, the Tesla Jobs page still has listings for "San Antonio, La Cantera."

They'd get a lot more interest if they put up more than two banners and a cocktail table. The actual mobile experience center would attract a lot more attention and be more legit. A guy at a table with a car nearby feels a little like the timeshare operations you see in malls. If what the guy said is true, they already have the plans for the space - they can't be ready early next year and be expecting to change the layout of the store in the next couple months. Still wistfully recalling when Jerome Guillen e-mailed me in late 2013 (not a typo) and said there'd be a showroom/service center in San Antonio in early 2014 (not a typo). My prediction is nothing will be open before Q3 2016.
