I hope to participate in these type of events once my S arrives and hope you continue to post here. Thanks for reaching out to us in the Tesla community; looking forward to participating in your next event when my S arrives.
Heck, I hope to get a Model S!!! I still have 24 months on the Infinit G37 convertible lease. I think I'm just about ready to put down my deposit. Attention OC and LA county LEAFers; I will pay $100 cash to the longest drive in a LEAF to this event !!!! The DC Chademo charger in San Juan Capistrano (south Orange County) may be operational before this meeting, so it's 82 miles to Santa Ysabel from there. At 55 mph, with 3000 feet elevation gain, a LEAF will burn about 22.5 kWh without climate control and 65F or greater battery temperature. A new LEAF will have 21kWh usable. Obviously, cars over a year old will only have about 19kWh available (10% degradation loss). So, a LEAF will need 1.5kWh to 3.5kWh extra juice to make it there (plus reserve, assuming 100% full in San Juan Cap). There are plenty of L2 along the route to make that easy. Going home the 82 miles back to San Juan Cap will be (relatively) easy with 3000 feet elevation loss!!! 54 miles away 7 Blink L2, need Blink card, fee North County Transit Center 195 South Tremont Oceanside, CA 92054 48 miles away 3 AeroVironment L2, no card or fee Mossy Nissan 3535 College Blvd Oceanside, CA 92056 43 miles away 1 SemaCharge L2, no card, no fee Walmart 310 Sycamore Ave Vista, CA 92083 35 miles away 2 GE Wattstation L2, no card or fee Stone Brewery 1999 Citracado Pkwy Escondido, CA 92029 34 miles away 2 AeroVironment L2, no card or fee Mossy Nissan 1546 Auto Parkway Escondido, Ca 33 miles away 1 SemaCharge L2, no card or fee Walgreens 111 W Washington Ave Escondido, CA 33 miles away 2 Blink L2, requires Blink card Walmart 1800 University Drive Vista, CA 16 miles away Three L2 chargers, requires Blink card: Big 5 Sporting Goods (across from Starbucks) 1350 Main Street Ramona, CA
I bought a Toyota Rav4 EV this past weekend, and am certainly enjoying the Tesla supplied power and range. I will have this car in Santa Ysabel for the Nov 17 meet.
The DC charger in San Juan Capistrano is operational, so it's 82 miles to Santa Ysabel from there. The user fees will be with a Chargepoint card or a credit card (by calling the 800 number). The Nissan dealer is across the street (with L2 charging) and Costco is a short walk down the hill nearby. The EV Oasis grand opening party to inaugurate that first DC charger is in San Juan Capistrano at the Marriott Residence Inn, also Nov 17, 2012 from 2pm to 7pm. Yes, a LEAF can do the Santa Ysabel event from 10am-1pm if you quick charge in Santa Ysabel, and quick charge again in San Juan Capistrano (81 miles between the two, downhill 4000 feet elevation) to get home. ********************* Tony Williams San Diego 858-245-8217 ********************************************
It was a cool morning in the mountains of San Diego, but about a dozen LEAFs, two Volts, and my Rav4 converged on Santa Ysabel for breakfast:
