Would love to take another trip to the mountains next week-end. Anyone interested in meeting up on Saturday morning for a fun ride to Julian via Sunrise Highway?

Meet at the Albertson parking lot in Pacific Beach at 8:30 am. Pull out at 9:00 sharp.

Not a race. All traffic laws are in effect.

Map to follow.....

The Julian Pie Company is rated well but for Pies... not sure they offer breakfast.

How about this place:

It seems to have enough room for us and has decent YELP reviews. At least we can meet there and decide where to go. San Diego folks should be rolling in shortly after 10:30 if you want to meet up with us there.

I'll be coming from Orange, crossing my fingers that I can make it up and back to at least Escondido with my 60. If you have any input on planning energy use/charging for this trip, please say something in my Battery & Charging thread. I'm super nervous that it's going to be really stressful and that I might not make it. :frown:

But I have to push that range anxiety barrier at some point, right? At least that's what I'm telling myself.

There are Blink L2 charging stations at that mountain location, so you can add a few miles back while you're eating and talking EVs with the group....

The Blink map shows only a couple in Santa Ysabel and they're not working at the moment. My plan is to charge in Old Town Temecula on the way back if I'm leaving with >60 miles or in Escondido if I'm leaving with <60. If I'm leaving with <38, I better hang around and charge off a 110v for a while. :)

would love to go, but not sure if I can make it to SD from orange county and do the drive with out running out of juice

Don't you have an 85? You'll be able to make it to Julian and back, probably not OC to SD to Julian and back.

The Pechanga Resort and Casino has free J1772 charge stations. They may be busy with weekend visitors, but it is another possibility when needing to charge in the Temecula area. If I remember correctly, they are located near the north entrance of the casino inside the north parking structure on the ground floor level.

Julian Fun Ride

So we had a fun time. Three of us left from PB and we picked up a 4th at we rode East on 8. Four other Teslas showed up in Julian. We were 15 for lunch.... no breakfast but the food was very good. Service.... not so much but we were all in a great mood anyhow.
Sunrise H'way was build for Telsa drivers.... look sweeping turns follow by decent straights that let you gun it safely. If you have not driven it yet, please consider it.

Here are some of the pictures that we took:

thanks Victor for setting everything up. It was a great drive down and back and nice meeting everyone out there. Also thanks for all the people that gave me charging advice on getting home. I had to drive like a granny (55mph) to get home, but I made it. What is range anxiety I hear about?

Thanks for the dash pic of the 60, Colasec. I think it's the first time (that I can recall) seeing the adjusted (240) limit. I remember it being mentioned in the release notes or wherever, just didn't have a visual etched in my brain yet.
