I called SCE to switch over to the EV billing plan, but they say it can take one to two billing cycles to switch over. Is my electric bill going to be astronomical in the meantime? Should I rely on public charging? I usually drive around 200-300 miles per week.
300 miles would be about 90 to 100 kwh (loss in transfer, cold weather, new car stepping on it hard, etc..) I think. You will probably add another 400 kwh max to your usage.. would that push you over to High Usage? My guess is that it will just add about $100 to your bill. Cheaper than gas I think.
depends on what rate tier you are in (and the corresponding rate). We are in Edison's Tier 2 rate and the cost is $0.25/kW, so we did not change to ToU. Don't forget that your gasoline bill goes to zero.
