Seatbelt lap loop?

Do other 3 owners have a loop in the middle of the of the lap part of the seatbelt?

Why is this there?

I never had any other cars with this interruption in the belt. I find this really annoying to see and feel.

Yes, it’s on my Model 3. Something like this has been on all cars I’ve been in for the last 20 years. It’s there to position the buckle in a convenient place to grab when the belt is stowed and not in use.

Without it, you’d be fumbling for the buckle down by your waist.

So obvious yet I never realized it. Now I know why there is that little plastic button on the seat belt in other cars. Seems a plastic button would be cheaper than that additional strap and sewing of the seat belt.

yea but why couldn't they just use the button like every other car for the clean look. It looks like a last minute thought. Ooops we forgot oh well we just saved 0.01 on each plastic button.
