The second story is occupied by a company. The owner(s) of that company own the building, and are the landlords.

AFAIK, Tesla will be leasing approx. 2/3 of the 1st floor.

The owner that I talked to yesterday doesn't know that he's "formerly" been there.

Brier Dudley. the Seattle Times reporter that broke the story about Tesla's Seattle facility, is providing more information about it through his blog.

Seattle is a pretty big business area for them no? Good move.

I think TM said they were a little surprised by the percentage of orders that ended up coming from greater Seattle, and accelerated plans to bring in a local presence there as a result.

I am assuming that they knew about all the Microsoft $ there, and the "greenness" of Seattle, but even so it turned out to be a more Tesla popular location than predicted.

Tesla has previously said that they would stay away from previous car sales models with no commission for employees. Tesla Motors - Marketing

Rereading this Elon blog I notice that the the LA store does not included much of the stated amenities. It's certainly not a Starbucks.

#1: They built that store next to a Starbucks so it ended up being redundant.

#2: I think enough time has passed that I think we can assume their plans have changed somewhat.

The accidental convenience of the Menlo Park store being near a CalTrain station far outweighed any missing amenities today!

In the SkyDrive folder where I had put the pics I took, I've added scans of the Seattle Times article, along with a .pdf of the front page that the Seattle Times has available for download.

Anyone been by the Seattle store site lately to see how it is coming along?

I stopped by the location a couple of days ago. Peeking in the front windows, I can't see any significant changes from when I was by there a few weeks ago. As far as I can tell, they've not started building out the Seattle store yet.
