The Model S has been functionally similar from 2012-2021. Therefore, all of the technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting posts in the Model S Subforum were basically applicable to everyone.

With the re-design and Plaid release, the vehicles are now substantially different mechanically. Therefore, folks are getting confused regarding what applies to the older cars and what applies to the new ones. For example, there are several threads about brakes, firmware, wheels/tires, etc right now that are accidently spreading mis-information because owners of two different generations of the same car are interacting at the same time.

Just like Bimmerforums did for the different lineages of 3/5/7 series, there should be sub-sections of the vehicle forums for the 2012-2021, and 2022+ Model S to make sure topics are relevant to vehicle owners from each group, and to make sure that folks aren't accidently misleading one another by providing guidance for the wrong generation of vehicle.
