Sentry mode - 31 new events?!?

spotted this when I hopped in the car the other day. The idea of sentry seems great, but unless my car has been hit 31 times, I don’t really want to know. Is this normal? Can I make it less sensitive?

Normal, no. Wait till it rains or gets dark and windy so lots of moving shadows. We play guess the number of sentry events on return. Normally 5-15.

Not unusual. I used to get 150+ events on rainy and windy nights when Sentry was first introduced. It's gotten better, but a busy grocery store parking lot can still leave me with 20-30 events over a couple of hours.

Thanks guys. Next question that I hope you two can help with, 67gb of 120gb free. 5 saved clips, the rest sentry. Will sentry clips overwrite themselves and therefore saved clips is the only thing I need to monitor and make sure these don’t get too large which would restrict number of sentry events?

I can't use it at night, would be great, but it spends the entire night flashing the lights the minute ANYTHING moves. So it's just used when parked up away from home. It needs the ability to adjust sensitivity and stop the lights flashing.

Ah, that kind of makes sense - horrible weather 2 nights ago, car reported 148 events - scanned through a good few of the videos at different times during the night & early morning and found nothing.

I must say I don't understand this issue where you worry about the number of events, then check them.

I leave my car and when i come back if it isn't damaged or stolen I just drive away and ignore the events. 1 or 500 doesn't matter.
Save yourselves a lot of bother - only check the footage when something has actually happened to the car.

Of course, if the car has been stolen, please check the footage immediately...

Apart from saved dashcam clips, he car now (since late last year) self manages sentry slips and overwrites stale ones. So you can leave TeslaCam to largely manage itself unless you spot a problem worth investigating.

I like how it gives an mp4 for each camera, appropriately named. I just wish I didn't have to trawl through all of them. Surely the car can log which sensors picked up the motion so I can ignore the rest.

Try something that merges all the cameras - I use this browser based app TeslaCam Video WebApp Player

imho, you would be making better use of your time by reacting to issues found with car (in which case it is obvious what clip to look at) than looking for something that is probably a non event simply because sentry said it detected movement.

But as a hint, the useful sentry event video is normally the last two segments for the event.
