Sentry Mode on AP2, I am confused

I am looking at a used MS or M3 and I have been reading about AP2 has Sentry mode, but it doesn't work? Can you help clear up if an AP2 MS has functional Sentry mode?

On a Model S the MCU version determines sentry mode. My AP2 with MCU1 does not have sentry mode.

No confusion it doesn't work or do anything. It merely shows the sentry icon and increments a counter to show the number of incidents, but no footage or anything is caputured.
