Sentry mode only activates with door handles pulled

I haven't used sentry mode in a long time, but with a recent influx in break-ins at my apartment complex I want to start using it again. I tested it out today and it was only activating when I pulled on the door handles. Previously it would activate whenever someone got near the vehicle. Did something change? I also haven't done a firmware update in a while so perhaps that could have something to do with it?

It should still record when someone get close to the car. Mine still does this. I'd try resetting the computer and if that doesn't work you'll probably need mobile service to come out and take a look.
