Sentry Mode- Record on approach?

Was recently assaulted walking to my car and realized that Sentry mode does not activate when the owner approaches. Is there anyway to turn on Sentry to automatically record on approach to and exit from the vehicle?

Very sorry to hear that.
I do not think there is a way to have it automatically turn on when you approach, but it can automatically turn on when you are leave the vehicle. Also if it is active then it records. If you don't save the footage it gets rewritten.
