Sentry mode won't turn off

I am having trouble with the sentry mode. No matter what I do to turn it off the next time I get in the car it is back on.
I went to the owners manual and when I highlight the "Sentry Mode" it reverts to the first screen without showing anything regarding sentry. I wouldnm't normallyu mind but it is using up mileage. Any suggestions?

What firmware you are running?
There is a new feature where you can enable disable home, favorites and work, make sure those are excluded.

Note that Sharing Data uses lots of mileage also.

and some people forget about their third party apps where some of them have a setting to automatically enable sentry.

Trying turning it off and see for yourself. Select No to both boxes. There isn’t any info data to share once you’re parked in the garage.

Sharing data can prevent the car from sleeping. The car will be awake so that it can upload (aka share) data, like camera footage, to Tesla. It doesn't always do this but it really depends on what Tesla is looking to collect.

This would only hurt range if you’re not plugged in though, right?

That's right. I think the car when awake (like in sentry mode) appears to drain 1 mph so as long as your charging is faster than that you shouldn't see any loss.
