Sentry problem

On my M3 the sentry turns on automatically every time I put the car in park. Is there a way to change that so that I initiate sentry and it's not automatic?
Also in the owners manual there is nothing on the sentry mode. There is a shaded "Sentry" without and other text.

Not sure where you are looking in your manual but searching the pdf of it (5/16/19) by "sentry" there are references on Pages 11, 21, 22, 120 and 121. It's even listed in the Index. Location-Based Settings for Sentry are on Pg. 121.
