So I'm taking my car in on Monday to get the HVAC system looked at (it makes a vibration when the fan speed is greater than 4).

I always expected to stay in the service center until it's done. Now I'm not sure, as they sent me an email yesterday (Saturday) about touchless service (as a covid 19 precaution). Of course, they're not open today and I already took tomorrow off from work.

So I'm going tomorrow, and somewhat apprehensive that they may have me either wait outside the entire time or just refuse to let me stay even outside their building (in which case I'll have to cancel the service, as nothing is within walking distance). The service center has always been horrible in answering phone calls.

I wish this was made clear earlier and they offered to either pick up my car or get me a rental or loaner or something. (For point of comparison, my wife's Lexus got serviced last week and they told her they were picking up the car and leaving a loaner in it's place.)

Not sure about PA, but here they give you Uber credits to use while the car is being serviced.

My local service center still has a waiting area they just moved the chairs further apart. I’ve been twice and waited each time with no issues. I’m in Virginia though.

Mine still has a waiting room, but I would never intentionally spend an extended period of time indoors in public given the current circumstances

They'll give you Uber credits. No loaners bc Enterprise is supposedly shut down. But, I was offered one when my recent service ran longer than expected.

Last time I went in they gave me a loaner. Oddly I think it was my dentist's old P85D that he traded in a few months ago.

I don’t have or want Uber or other ride sharing apps on my phone. Too many stories about tracking people even when the apps are closed. Also detest their business model.

if they want to order the Uber to and from my house, I guess that's fine. And while I don't want to stay in their place, hopefully they have some seating available for those of us that don't feel comfortable useing Uber. I do plan to stay outside as much of the time as possible, provided that they have outdoor seating available. I'll find out in a few hours.

Does anyone know if Tesla has a standard process to sanitize a vehicle after service? When I had my PPF/ceramic done, the shop was super professional and not only cleaned the surfaces, but also fogged the inside of the vehicle with an automotive disinfectant.

LOL...nope! The high likelihood is that your car will be dirtier after a visit with the service center. After both my visits, I spent significant time wiping down the interior for dust and grime.

So this is what happened when I took my car in for service in North East PA. When I got to the service center, I went inside (there was no one outside), and immediately inside the door was a message to log onto a website with my phone to sign in. I was then told to go back to my car and a service rep would call me back. Within five minutes I got a call and the service rep met me at my car and took my key and escorted me to a loaner vehicle.

She did say that they do not have enough loaner vehicles for everyone, but that because I was a new buyer, I had priority.

Otherwise, people were getting Uber credits.

When I had service done in early July, they were still doing touchless drop off and pickup. As of a couple days ago, it’s returned to the normal process with the addition of masks. I don’t believe any sanitization was being done. The service center here in SLC isn’t even allowed to wash the exterior of the cars.

I had two service appointments (pretty much back to back) in Denver recently. Both were touchless. I had an Kiosk iPad I checked in with, and told to drop off my keycard in an envelope in the overnight box. No waiting inside the "showroom" was allowed. Thankfully I was given a loaner, so I left right away with a Model S 75D and a Model S P95D, both in Chill mode :-(. Supposedly they were cleaned and disinfected before I took them, but I doubt that. A baby wipe was left in one, so I think it was a quick wipe down was all.

When I picked up my car, there was no evidence of cleaning or sanitizing anything.

Last time I was at the service center I saw them wipe down everything with disinfectant when the car was dropped off and then again when I picked it up.
