I dropped my MX off this morning for some work. At 5:30PM, I got a text that the car was done, and that I should pay. I paid in the app, and now it says to pickup on Monday at 9AM... The service advisor said they're doing a new type of contactless pickup. Where I just use my 2nd key to enter, and then my first key is in the glovebox with the battery removed. The showroom is open tomorrow, but service is closed. So, can I just pickup the car tomorrow? Seems like I don't need to talk to anyone, so is there any reason for me to wait until Monday?
Depends on the SC. When my X was in last month (charging issue that turned out to be a firmware bug), mine was parked indoors, so I needed to wait for Monday when they reopened. Thankfully I had a loaner S, so didn’t matter. I was there right at opening Monday though, to make sure the loaner was available for someone else. I appreciate having one available so try to not abuse the privilege. If you’re not too far, maybe swing by and see if you can get it. Do you have a way to get back home if the mission isn’t a success?
My car has always been outside for pickup and easily accessible. They should have taken it out of service mode so you should be able to see the details of where it is via the app.
When mine was serviced in Virginia last month, it was completely hands free. I was told not leave my fob, just park it in the drop off spaces and lock it. It was serviced, and then parked in a pickup space and plugged into a charger. I was texted when it was finished and to pick it up at my convenience. Excellent, and got a few kilowatts of charging.
That's the one problem. The app is still showing it's in Service Mode. The sales side of the SC is open today, so I plan to talk to folks there. See if they can help out. Fingers crossed!
So an update for anyone that's interested. Even though the Service Advisor said my MX would be setup for contactless pickup, it was not. I tried to follow-up on Friday via text, but never got a response. Luckily the sales side was open on Saturday (and people were working in the Service area), so they were able to get my key from the back, and I was on my way. Unrelated, I'm not understanding how the sales area can be open, the service area buzzing with mechanics, yet there isn't a single service advisor working on a Saturday. Dozens of other employees are there, why is it so hard to enable folks to pickup and drop-off their cars on a weekend?
