Thanks. No, that will likely speed up the charge cycles on the internal battery, not sure where he got this idea, Setec never communicated to do this.

It is for both. But I think the manual says you should only need to charge it if it isn't used on a regular basis. The adapter has a usb port but it's for updating the firmware, not for charging it, as far as I know
So you are saying that after you updated to 2021.40.6, the Setec didn't work, and you are now working with them to get it working again?Working with Setec on a fix, will let you know when ready.
Wow, that was quick. Guessing that by this point they have a pretty good idea on where to start looking. Thanks for helping them out!Yes correct, we have a fix, just need permission to post it (i'm waiting for a reply from Setec) likely later tonight
Got it. Thanks!!Here is the link for 163-1 which fixes the Setec adapter as of Tesla firmware 2021.40.6:

When was your Model 3 built? Was it an early 2020? (Like built in October of 2019?) You can check the sticker in the driver's door jamb for the month/year it was built.FYI I have a 2020 AWD model 3 and still it does not have the needed chip for Tesla's new CCS1 adapter, I think most of us will need to pay for a retro fit, i would stick with chademo or Setec CCS1 adapter at this point (sadly chademo is no longer in the online store)
Thx! My car just started to bug me to install 2021.40. Seeing as I absolutely needed the adapter the other night, no desire to lose the capability. Here is the link for 163-1 which fixes the Setec adapter as of Tesla firmware 2021.40.6:
Still will not be an option for older MS MX in the near future. When was your Model 3 built? Was it an early 2020? (Like built in October of 2019?) You can check the sticker in the driver's door jamb for the month/year it was built.
In any case I think the Tesla CCS adapter, with retrofit, will likely cost the same, or less, than the SETEC adapter, and will work more reliably. It is just a matter of when Tesla makes it available.
Why? You don't think that the retro-fit they developed, and are selling, for European S&X vehicles could be installed in North American S&Xs? (It is a box that goes inline with the charge port to handle the CCS communication.)Still will not be an option for older MS MX in the near future.
Different plug? Yes. Different protocol? No.Europe and North America CCS are TOTALLY different. Europe is CCS2 and we are CCS1, different plugs and different protocol
I'm guessing they are matching the Tesla offer:Haven't been following this thread in terms of whether the adapter works for anyone right now, but EA might be free in your area: Electrify America complimentary sessions (stations set.... I can confirm it's free in the Bay Area now. Using CCS w/my Bolt for free now.
