Shadows in Pearl White

Hi all

just noticed some shadow type weird dark patches throughout the paintwork on the car. You can only see them in certain lights. Anyone know what this is or experienced this?

I can't see it myself.

White is a pearl paint so will look different from different angles, and in different lighting.

if you want to be sure give it a once over with an LED floodlight or something.

given the shadows and reflections etc I can't tell what you are referring to but it is not the first time I have heard such things mentioned.
Can't say I have any issues with my white M3 though.
You could always go to a paint specialist and get it checked, paint depth measured etc then use the report to beat Tesla into a respray if you think its that bad.

Just look like refections of the surrounding landscape to me. I can see a paved path in the first, for instance. I can generate similar pics from my car.

Just to check, you mean the 4inch ('ish) line that comes up from behind the front wheel and then runs straight down the sides of the doors?

I think that’s a reflection of the kerb, distorted slightly by the ergonomics of the door.

nah mate, I just had the car up to IKEA and the shadows in exactly the same place

Granted, photos don’t really show the issue very well. They’re like dark shadows, patchy, hard to describe.

Cars brand new, few months old. Just spoke to Tesla, seem to think that the top coat paint may be too thin
