I've just had an email from Shell Recharge, announcing that their prices are now basically 45-50 p/kwh.
At a reasonably optimistic 250 wh/mile (especially for this time of year), that's 12.5 p/mile, before even considering efficiencies and losses in the charger, etc.
My diesel Mazda 6 used to achieve around 12-13 p/mile.
Is this a sign of things to come? Are the running cost savings of EVs going to be eroded by the fossil fuel suppliers pushing prices up to match fossil fuel running costs?
