Short range battery software locked?

Hey folks, I was just wondering if you guys thought the short range battery on the model 3 would be physically limited to 50 KWh or would it be limited using software like the Model S 60 was. Just wondering with the production delays whether Tesla would default the battery size on all 3s and have glass roof on all cars regardless to speed things up.
 
As stated, the curb weights for both the standard and long range have been released by Tesla. No software locked battery on the standard. And having a default battery size and glass roof is already the case with the initial production. All cars built now all have the long range battery and premium upgrade package, so it’s as streamlined as possible when it comes to options.
 
Hi. The Electrek article here says the large pack has 4,416 cells and the small one has 2,976 cells. Therefore the answer is no, the small back is not a software limited version of the large pack. Also, the small pack is 55 kWh, not 50 and the large pack is 80 kWh, not 75.

Model 3 80

I think we have enough people posting "no" already, perhaps we could stop posting in this thread and let it sink to the bottom mmkay?
That's what all those additional "No"s are for... to ensure there's enough weight to sink this thread. You don't want it inadvertently floating back to the surface later because we were too stingy with the ballast. :)

I suspected the small battery was much closer to 55 than to 50 all along! When I get my 3 and put Tesla name badges on the back like it should already have, I'll make it a 55 to better reflect the true capacity, including anti-bricking buffers.

Hmm, the manual of the LR says the battery has a 75 kWh capacity.
 
Just for fun.... could the glass roof explain the fact that the LR and the Standard models?
Long vs. short range isn't the same as PUP vs. non-PUP. PUP and long-range may be required for "first production", but they won't necessarily be linked in the future. For example, I'm planning on getting short-range with PUP. Others may opt for long-range without PUP. Also, I don't think there's a 265 pound difference between metal vs. glass for that tiny roof section.
