Salvage yards are going to have to come up with a practical approach to dealing with this potential problem (and I'm not sure removing batteries is it). Fast forward 20 years from now and 50%+ of the cars in a salvage yard could be BEV's.
The title is misleading. "Salvage" cars are referred to in the context of registered cars with a branded title. Your context is cars in accidents that caused a fire that are then stored somewhere. The cars in auction or wrecking yards are not even considered salvaged in any context until they are purchased. They are awaiting to be salvaged by a purchaser.
