Need help in deciding whether to sell my 2015 Tesla Model S (77k miles). Got a quote of $42k from driveway

Pros:

1. Fun to drive
2. Unlimited supercharging
3. Still gets awe from others

Cons:

1. Warranty expires in October, worried about repairs
2. Battery warranty expires in October
3. Worried about further depreciation
4. Phantom drain

Already have Mustang Mach e, can replace with another electric non tesla

Help me with your thoughts or up the bid for tilting me towards selling

I had a 2012 Model S that I bought from the Tesla CPO program. When it got close to the end of warranty, I sold it and bought a new Model 3.

No regrets. All Teslas are fun to drive. I have since sold the 3 and currently drive a Y.

What have you replaced under warranty so far? MCU? IC? Battery? DU?

For that price I think I would take the money and move on. But yes, great cars! If you really value UFSC then maybe worth keeping.
MCU, Screen, handles, tail light

what is UFSC?

I was in a similar situation and decided to keep my 2014 MS for a few more years.

Pros:

-Unlimited supercharging
-Some features are no longer available (larger frunk, yacht floor…)
-I don’t need/want dual motor
-Many parts replaced during CPO refurbishment and warranty
-Pre dinged and scratched

So my vote, unless there is something out there that you want, is to keep it.

My warranty also ran out, so I got XCare coverage for peace of mind. Additionally, I upgraded to MCU2 and got some Taptes seat covers for that new car smell :)

How much is the extended warranty?

Selling trading my 2015 for a M3LR.

1. Battery warranty expires, 20k replacement.
2. Tired of sitting 45min at superchargers.
3. I drive her like I stole her, 8 years of stress on the
chassis and suspension, don't want to lose my life in
the next turn on the road.
4. This thing is friggin huge, kids are leaving the nest
one by one.
5. Eight years in one car is ENOUGH:)

What’s your battery degradation? You usually don’t need to replace the battery unless the range becomes too restrictive for your daily activities.

My 2015 85D came with an 8-year powertrain warranty, which runs through August of 2023. Since yours has only 77k miles, you may find it useful to know that mine required some pricey repairs at 90k miles (new internal charger, new REMANUFACTURED rear drive unit).

I sold it at 43k, bought it for $43k (including taxes) with 4 yr comprehensive warranty, put some 36k miles.

Very happy that I got rid of it at the right time at the right price. Got. 2x mustang Mach E, hope to not depreciate on it like tesla :)
