Should I swap my Gateway 1 for the Gateway 2?

Sorry about my slightly caustic comment earlier, hadn't had enough coffee yet.

If you are looking to reduce the equipment on your wall the GW2 might help out with a cleaner install. It might frustrate your installers if they have to rework things and get a new permit. Right now AHJ are really backed up getting permits, so could cause delays.

Deciding on the day of the install is a bit late in the game, but if you are willing to pay for the extra time I don't see why its an issue. I also don't see that you have any definite benefit.

How did you just get a new one then with a GW2? Are you grandfathered in so your new/fifth one is still founder? Or did you buy it remanufactured/used?

"or did you get a 5th referral award, or purchase someone elses referral award,"? (most likely this, especially since OP mentions the 1k installation credit, AND the fact that its coming with GW2 when he has a current installation already).

No this is my 5th reward, but for some reason came as a separate installation (being even more delayed), and because of that came with its new separate gateway (ver 2).

Aside from reading the specs, I'm not as familiar with the GW2.

What box does it allow you to get rid of that the GW1 installs use, and how does it do this?

On the spec sheet, there's a section that reads: "Optional Internal Panelboard ... 200A 6-space / 12 circuit Eaton BR Circuit Breakers"

Assuming your design allows for this, the intergrated circuit breakers could help someone skip using a generation panel and plug stuff straight into the Gateway.

That would have been really nice if it were available when my install was done (Apr 2018). We've got 4 boxes in the garage, and then 2 more for the NGOM outside. I wince every time I see all that unnecessary @#$%.
