Shouldn't Tesla be producing cars for America by now?

Tesla has been producing new 2020 cars for the US for awhile now, minus the performance models. I’m sure they’ll switch to full, exclusive US production whenever they have to in order to fulfill all the back orders, until then, they’re probably going to get as many as they can over seas. They have the number of orders, they know what they can produce, this isn’t their first quarter.

It's a simple matter of logistics. It's one thing to produce cars for overseas deliveries in order to book them this month. But they have to get them there first. The fastest route is through the Panama Canal (for Europe), and that takes at least a month if there are no hangups in Panama. Then those cars have to pass through customs. Then they have to be transported to their respective countries and then delivered to the customer.

All this happens during the holiday season. And believe me, on the continent NOBODY works during Christian holidays.

So, if they are still cranking them out for European delivery, it's very doubtful they would be delivered in 2019, which is the point.

The demos becoming more available lately might actually be a godsend seeing as people are so desperate they're willing to give up the models they've been waiting for to take delivery on demos. Just clears up more of the queue for the rest of us! :D
