Every Model-X has AutoPilot hardware installed. If you don't pay for it, it's disabled via software. There is no reason to disable AutoPilot for a demo vehicle (is there?)

Possibly along the same lines as the speed limiting they put in place for demo vehicles. But it seems like something you'd want to demo, so who knows.

I know. It's not enabled though. I drove it, and while the sensors showed the ghost cars on the display, and regular cruise control worked, a double-pull of the cruise stick had no effect. I was very disappointed. I'm sure they could call and have it enabled, but they haven't yet.

Sadly I confirm this, I drove it on Sunday. It fit my family of 6, including 2 booster seats. Loved it otherwise, can't wait until mine is ready.

That is very odd. I would have expected every showroom demo X would have AP enabled.

My guess is that their demo X was a customer ordered car and for some reason the customer did not take delivery. So they are using it as a demo because they don't have a demo X yet. But I would have expected them to turn on the AP.
