Had the foam In one of my tires become detached. Caused a wicked shudder. Have them check it.

Good point! This is one of the reasons why I always go with replacement tires without the foam insert. 2nd, they're cheaper too.

As Uncle Paul noted, wheel balance is the most likely culprit. It's very possible a balance weight came free at some point - probably as you were approaching escape velocity...

I'm pretty sure he exceeded the flap speed limits.

Took a ride with the service manager. Agreed on shudder and possible linkage to foam detach. Friday they’ll break down the tires and see if we can fix. I assume yours was covered under tire warranty (seems like a defect, right?)

Mine was...the service center says they go after the tire manufacturer for cost of replacement

Good advice. Can you describe your experience with road noise increase. I heard the foam purpose is to reduce road noise.

Y’all. So they confirm it’s the foam. The pull the foam out of the tire. They say it’s good now. I drive away. The tire completely blows out.

Well this finally got me a comped tire. Vibration gone. Also about half a day of ubering and road side assistance and Tesla service working late and almost blaming me (“are you sure you didn’t hit something…”). But finally, new tire. No vibration. Onward.

What caused the follow-up blowout? The photo you posted doesn't show a "blow out", just a delated tire. Was it blown out on the inside?

I don't understand how removing tire/re-gluing foam could cause a deflation, UNLESS they didn't seat the bead properly. That's my guess.

Definitely a blow out (immediate deflation at speed) and no idea what caused it. They sort of just waved it off and gave me a new tire.

I think I'll be avoiding tires with foam when I replace these Goodyears though. Mainly because I think there are better tires but hey, also one less thing to go wrong.
