This was my experience in the UK

Wing Mirror Warning. I recently took my S85 to my local bodyshop for some 'TLC' to tidy up of some parking scratches to my front bumper corners. Sadly after spraying, as the fitter drove my car out of the oven, he managed to catch the nearside wing mirror on the portal, which broke off a small piece of the chrome under-casing.

He told me he was unable to order that under-casing separately as with most cars. The cost of which I estimate, that any supplier would be pressed to charge more than say £50.00, but being a Tesla I would double the price to a guesstimate of £100.00.

The bodyshop manager asked me to name the cost of replacing it. Now bearing in mind that Tesla insists on selling only complete wing mirror units. The price on Amazon for a complete assembly for my wife's Prius is £115.00. So I said £250? He said no higher. I said what! - £500? He said no higher: So I thought it cant be more than £750.00 he again said NO! I then gave up? He finally advised: - £825.00!!!

So in the UK where we have many narrow country lanes, it's essential to fold in our wing mirrors when passing stupid motorists or wide vans etc., who can't judge their vehicles width!.

Here's the nub; today I discovered that the latest software update now prevents me & all 'S' owners from folding in their wing mirrors, that is if their vehicle is exceeding 15mph! Well just to make a good day wonderful, can you imagine how I felt earlier when leaving home today & was driving down a leafy, yet narrow lane, only to meet an on-coming motorist! Yes that's right - one of those motorists, (lacking spacial awareness) when I discovered I was unable to fold my off-side mirror in time! As we passed they cluncked then flipped back! Amazingly the mirror escaped any serious damage! I guess you can imagine the stream of expletives that ensued from me!

So until these clever safety specialists in Tesla are aware that the roads in European countries are a lot narrower than those stateside: - BEWARE my fellow 'Teslarati' !!!

Just wanted to post an update on my experiences so far:

1. Tried reset center console (push and hold both scroll wheels) -- did not fix
2. Tried reset dash console (push and hold both buttons above scroll wheels) -- did not fix
3. Factory reset using the Settings UI -- did not fix
4. Called Tesla support and they told me to try #1 again -- did not fix

They have setup an appointment for me to bring the car into local service center.
I have he same problem and found solution to it as well. Run the Xmas show again and it resets the side mirror

I had the same issue with my mirrors after running the Xmas Easter Egg. I brought my X to the SC for different issue and told them about the mirrors. They told me it was a firmware issue and when I got the car back they told me they did a firmware update. When I got home I got a notification for another update. I am now on 2017.38 f87c64d5 and the issue is gone. Mirrors work even after I run the Xmas show now.

Great to hear! I'm still on 2017.34 unfortunately. I hate that I can't manually check for updates and force it myself :-(
