    Good idea, thread re-titled.

    At least for Tesla's non-D rear motor, the motor and power electronics are at opposite ends of a housing that has a reduction gearbox in the middle. So some thermal isolation comes from that.

    But in general, the strategy of making a single housing with appropriately routed liquid cooling is old news for Tesla -- the Model S already gets the packaging efficiency advantages from that layout.
