Ohmmu wants to work with the Tesla Engineers to resolve their issues. The AtlasBX will only be produced in a finite number since later builds of 3/Y have Lion from Tesla.

Wait, the currently sold 3 and Y use lead-acid batteries? Not the Li-ion lightweight units (1.5 lbs) like the 2022 S and X.

No the current 3 and Y now use an Lion battery. Early Y's and 3's until I think late 2021 used an AtlasBX Lead acid battery.

Thanks. I thought the S and X inherited the LiIon battery tech from the 3 and Y.

There are still only 2000 signatures, it seems a shame to make early owners of Teslas not be able to use superior technology to Lead Acid in a car powered by Li-Ion batteries. If you haven't signed please do.

Is it really superior technology? @Ingineer doesn't seem to think it is very well designed:

Main problem appears to be no temperature sensors to prevent charging when too cold, which is very bad for the battery.

Actually the battery can be charged cold and software update due out next month (according to Ohmmu) will adjust charging. Future versions will have a built in silicone heating mat that isn’t really needed but to make users more happy. The issue was Tesla trickle charges at .01-.04 and below 40F the software blocked charging. It could be charged normally at those temps with more amperage. Software will fix this. BTW the current V4+ with Bluetooth does have temperature monitoring and more using the Ohmmu app.

Not sure I like the idea of heating mat, as it's just another item that uses power we need for range. Yes, I know by itself it's not much but remember many have added other power sucking products on their cars and it all adds up. Then throw in battery degradation and it makes it even more critical.
