I don't think many people are worried about our batteries being an issue down the road. There have been very few reports on major issues with batteries and DU's have improved in reliability significantly. In 2020 with the advancements in battery tech we can expect that replacement will be a lot less expensive and we may even have options available to upgrade to larger capacity units.

Roadster owners have also had large batteries out of warranty for many years...and those were hand-built, using off-the-shelf laptop batteries.

Capacities are declining as expected (far less than Tesla told us to expect), but no disasters. When there is an issue, they may replace the whole battery for expediency, but only charge the owner for the piece that needed fixing.

Recently purchased a 2013 Model S...the previous owner had Tesla do the safety before the sale and had the tires, brakes, rotors and both screens replaced for the sale...pretty much like purchasing a new vehicle in my opinion, while saving a bunch of money and less depreciation...my question is, what type of maintenance should be done when owning these cars without the warranty - are people bringing these in to Tesla for annual servicing...if so, what are the important things to watch out for?

I am curious about this too.

what does Tesla offer on a 2012 or 2013 S85 for trade in value. I see over $60,000 on autotrader. seems too steep for me.

I'm curious so I periodically look when nudged by a post like this.

Some data:
Autotrader doesn't offer 'instant offer' (or whatever it's called), and redirects to KBB. With 47.5k miles, KBB puts my 2012 P85 Sig @ $45,585. I haven't asked Tesla recently what they'd offer.
