This just in: "7 states are considering legislation requiring all vehicles equipped with these tires to produce artificial road/tire noise".

Very cool indeed! We should petition Tesla to commission Pirelli to make the right sizes for the Model S. it totally fits the image of the car, and no car stands to gain more in occupant comfort. The only downside is that then we would REALLY hear those mysteriously variable noises from the drivetrain.

It doesn't come in our size. Look closer at the top entry, it says:

Well, i'm not sure if the tire is actually the same
These look like those i have on my Audi S6 and they are crap
Thread pattern and compound is also different?

The tires were developed by Pirelli for Audi specifically for the RS6 and RS7. See the following from pirelli.com

Pirelli has developed tyres for the Audi Group capable of reducing noise inside the vehicle. As a result of the long-standing technological partnership between the two manufacturers, the “Pirelli Noise Cancelling System” technology is available in the original equipment fitment, thus reducing tyre cavity noise. Use of this technology is an industry first.Caused by the vibration emitted by air compression as the tyre is flattened, noise is actually transmitted from the tyre to the wheel, eventually reaching the vehicle interior through the steering column and suspension. A device made of polyurethane and fitted to the inside of the tyre allows the Pirelli system to absorb these vibrations and limit their transmission to the inside of the vehicle. The “Pirelli Noise Cancelling System” can lower noise by 2-3 decibels, thus cutting the overall noise level in half. Pirelli has carried out development tests which confirm that the use of this device has no effect on the tyre’s other characteristics.The “Pirelli Noise Cancelling System” is currently available in the original equipment fitments as the Audi RS6 and RS7 fitted with P Zero™ tyres in sizes 285/30ZR21 and 275/30ZR21, respectively.
