I used to live in Kent, but now that I'm in Clark County it's a bit of a hike. I've never been to a drag racing track, but I might have gone if we still lived there.

From the SEVA email list:

National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) is in full swing and will end with the finale of our two great events this Sunday Sept. 20.

The big 100% electric car show at Triple X in Issaquah (98 NE Gilman Blvd, Issaquah, WA 98027) and the big 100% electric Silent Thunder race day at Pacific Raceways in Kent (31001 144th Ave SE, Kent, WA 98042).

For those going to the XXX show it will happen rain or shine! Remember NDEW two years ago in Bellevue? We didn't let torrential downpours keep us away and we won't let it snuff out the Issaquah show this year either so get there by 9am!

The forecast looks rainy and so Pacific Raceways management has changed the event time details from 7:30am to gates opening at 12:00 noon with racing from 12:30 to 4:30pm as long as it isn't pouring down rain. It will also be a drag-race only event as there are provisions for drying the dragstrip. Like last year, we will still have trophies for the quickest LEAF, Quickest Model S, Quickest Motorcycle, Quickest conversion, Judge's Choice awards etc.

Like last year we will still have the plentiful charging >10 Nema 14-50s and L6-20, L6-30, 30A J1772, A Tesla Model S HPWC @ 80A, a J1772 @70/80A and a Tesla Roadster HPC @70A. (a total of about 700A of 240V dedicated to EV charging!) And the wiring has been improved too!

It is 21 miles from XXX in Issaquah to the track in Kent and good to warm up your batteries anyway. Let's all show our support and drive or trailer your race vehicle or other car to the XXX in the morning arriving before 9am and we may easily make this the largest number of EVs at the XXX yet! If the weather remains too wet to race we will stay all day, or if it's clear we can parade over to Pacific Raceways around noon and enjoy the unlimited EV racing until 4:30pm. (Yes four full hours of all-electric racing meaning no waiting in the staging lanes behind stinky gas cars!) Remember your helmet if you have a car (like a Tesla) which does quicker than 14.5 seconds in the 1/4 mile OR is a convertible, motorcycle or bike. See you Sunday at Triple X Issaquah rain or shine in the morning at nine!

Last year this was a great event.

However this year it was poorly organized.

Of the two HWPC's that are there one wasn't powered up or broken and the other was occupied by a leaf that wasn't racing.

@freds was there a good turnout? We had a loaner and weren't bringing it out.

No it was not a good turn out.

It go off to a late start and I think the first run was by a 85D that didn't know when the 1/4 mile was up and ended running off the end of the track and got high centered in the sand/gravel overrun. They finally took a pickup load of guys down to muscle it out and that delayed things for quite a bit.

I think the fastest time for the day was 12 flat for a P85D, but without the HPWC's I don't think anyone was fully topped off to get good run times. I was at 70% and ran 2-3 10ths of a second slower than last year at 100%.

Hardly anyone made it down the track and they ended up shutting down early as it started raining.
