Once Criticized by Musk, Singapore Is Finally Welcoming Electric Cars

"The government is planning to offer incentives to encourage the adoption of cleaner vehicles such as hybrids and electric cars, including rebates of up to S$20,000, and will invest to increase the number of electric charging stations on the island to 28,000 by 2030 from about 1,600 now, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said Tuesday in a speech presenting the country’s budget."

Maybe we'll see a legitimate attempt at BEV adoption in the next ten years for Singapore.

Singapore is a small place and does not produce fossil fuel (I think). The decline in cost of renewables changed their mind. Very glad!
Singapore has a significant oil refining business and its Mogas 95 price is the basis on which other countries including Australia set their petrol prices. The government’s resistance to electric vehicles is not a surprise, but perhaps they have started to see the writing on the wall.

between their rising sea levels and bad air (contributed by fires from Indonesia), i hope they wake up sooner rather than later.
