Mine started doing this a couple of weeks ago and mine is a 2016 with only 33K miles on it.2015 MS, the small screen is now booting up on start, more now like over the past week or so, almost every time. This is a sudden change. Impending doom?
How do you clear navigation entries?Try clearing the trip counter and some of the navigation entrees. If it's still doing it it's probably the eMMC on the way out.
Just swipe them to the right...one at a time. How do you clear navigation entries?
See if power saving is enabled. That puts the small screen to sleep to save power at the expense of taking longer to start.
This is exactly what was causing this same issue in my 2013 S recently. Started happening much more consistently after I updated to the 2020.24.6 builds.

I've never had power save enabled on my car, yet the IC does boot up when I get into the car sometimes (especially middle of the night, as per my comment above). I think power save affects the MCU (the big screen).I disabled "power saving" and the screen boots up right away. Good so far. Thanks for you help!
