Call me the king of off topic: I received 8.0 overnight but haven't installed it yet. I am considering waiting until 8.01 or whatever the first patch release is going to be based on current feedback on tmc so far. But then again I am very eager to install it and take it for a spin.

Any experience with it on this thread yet?

I've also been assured, many times, by Thomas in Finance that my 24mo numbers would be valid regardless of pre or post 10/1 delivery. I will note that I am currently scheduled to take delivery 9/30 (this Friday, woohoo!), but that this could be pushed out because my car is coming from Virginia. I'm slightly optimistic however, as my delivery specialist said the car was in Nashville on Friday. Can't take more than 4-5 days to get from there to Southern California, can it??

When did you place your order?

Yes, you are King Off-topic: I've been running v8.0 for two days. My advice would be to upgrade because, in my opinion at least, I would not want to go without the updates now that I have them. I love the navigation screen updates, music selection updates, and autopilot updates. It's definitely an 'upgrade' IMO.

Back on topic: boy, these deals are hot. Still happy I purchased my P90DL (for a lovely $101k) since, as a Maryland resident, I would miss out on most of the sexy lease deals. In Maryland, you can't lease a vehicle with more than 7,500 miles as it's considered 'used'.

Thanks for your feedback on 8.0...As I am reading relevant (and lengthy) threads on the topic, it looks like a patch release was issued already. Feedback is pretty consistent with yours, along with the music player/USB source being a downgrade.

See both of us gave this thread a brief update that will save everyone valuable time :)

<now looking for a rock big enough for me to go crawl under...>

$101k is solid. Before or after incentive?

My Finance contact just came up for air and I asked him. Hoping to get actual, real, confirmation in an email tonight. Will post back as soon as I have something.

It may be different for you since you placed your inventory order before 9/12, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up that I was told today that for my order (last week), I was required to take delivery by 9/30 to get the 24mo terms. This is from finance and confirmed by the local store management.

My OA is working on something creative, and he has been incredibly accommodating so far, so if he could've done something about it (delivery by 9/30) I'm sure he would've.

It seems like a lot of processes are kind of broken/underdeveloped or ad-hoc, but I'll continue (for now) to believe in my OA and that Tesla will work to make things right. (what choice do I have anyway? ;) )

I went to the service center today to find out what was going on with my car. I was told my car had been overlooked and they were now confident it would be here by 9/30. I was also told by the SC manager that because my lease had been approved they would honor the 24 month lease terms if the car was delivered late due to Tesla's slowness to ship the vehicle (I ordered 8/24).

I don't have any reason not to believe the guy, other than the fact that he doesn't work for US Bank. I have an email out to finance asking the same question, but have not heard back.

I would consider one of these deals. Unfortunately here in Georgia they make you pay the tax on the NADA book value and not what you actually paid. Also on a lease you pay the tax on the entire value of the item and not just the leased portion. So on a car that retails for $142k with a 7% Ad Valorem tax I would be paying $9,940 in tax on a 24 month lease. I would be paying $414 a month just in state tax!

When the lease runs out, if I decide to purchase the car, I get to pay the tax on the full NADA book value again. From what I have seen on Teslas frequently the NADA book value is $10k higher than the actual sales price.

Very frustrating to pay tax on perceived value based on NADA versus what you actually paid.

I just purchased my leased Mercedes back from the dealer and the NADA book value was $4k higher than what I paid. I got to pay the tax on the higher amount. Definitely not fun paying a high tax on the same vehicle twice!

Looking forward to my Model III and the relatively low retail price on it!

Your SC manager doesn't control the financing. I've heard from numerous individuals that Tesla has told them if the docs aren't signed by 9/30, the 24 month program will not be honored.

I would double check because even my OA has confirmed with the leasing group it will expire.

Thanks.

I can confirm this with my experience. My local Tesla store had been promising me that 24mo would be available up until I spoke directly to to Tesla Finance, who said I had to take delivery by 9/30.

I mean, if I hadn't spoken to Tesla Finance, I would've just showed up on delivery day without an option for 24mo. Now, they may have done something at that point to make things right, but who knows?

Ok, so Tesla finance got back to me and confirmed: unless I take delivery by 11:59pm on 9/30, the 24mo lease special will end. This is the entirety of the communication:

Hi Eddie,

The 2 year option ends at the end of the month and we’ll do our best to get it done. In the event that is doesn’t, we’ll look for a solution if it happens. If there’s a delay, I’m sure we’ll be well aware and look to fix it asap.

Well this all seems pretty clear.

Curious to see what they do. Either deliver the car by 9/30 or give deposits back. The alternative of losing my deposit would be pretty poor customer service. I don't think I could purchase a car from Tesla just on principle if that were to happen.

Just curious, how creative can you/they be to make this work? Could fly to wherever the car is before 9/30, sign the paperwork there (ie that's when you would take delivery of the car officially, documenting whatever needs to be fixed on the car) and then have Tesla deliver it to you after 9/30 if you don't want to drive it back that day? (I would ask them to wave the delivery fees and transport fees...). How far is the car?

I appreciate the brainstorming.

But no, my work schedule is not flexible at this point (it was when I ordered the car six weeks ago). And it's more expensive to bother with retrieving it myself than just forfeiting the deposit at this point.

On 8/24 when I put the deposit down they gave me 2 options:
1) Go to New Jersey and get the car myself (I'm in Minneapolis).
2) Pay $750 to get it delivered.

Since they said "it will be here by 9/30 guaranteed" and I didn't really need the car any sooner, $750 was an easy choice.

Since that time (33 days) I've been checking in constantly, and constantly being told that the car is "on its way," "delivery in 2-4 weeks," "delivery late next week," "delivery early this week."

Then suddenly it was, "oops, your car never shipped." That was of course, yesterday.

At this point I've been nothing but patient. I actually believe that Tesla will see this as their fault and make it right if it doesn't get here by Friday based on how they have treated other customers in the past. If not, well I guess according to the letter of the law, that's their prerogative, but still wouldn't make it "right."

I just received the following 2-year lease term related to the Q3 push and shocked that the P90 deal has basically the same terms.

They need my answer by tomorrow. Not sure how great of a deal this is anymore.

I just can't believe they're going to stiff you here. And when I say I can't believe it I don't mean it as to say it's happening and i can't believe it's happening. I mean I can't bring myself to believe that they are going to botch delivery, force you to forfeit your lease and keep your deposit. I just don't believe they'd do that.

Kill them with kindness. Explain to your OA the situation and politely remind him what the missed deadline means in terms of your lease and your deposit. Give them a chance to make it good without demanding that they make it good.
