Snow tire sizes

I just sold my Subaru Sti but kept my winters. I have FastWheels rims on Bizzaks, and the size is 245/40/18.

My ‘22 Model 3 Dual Motor came with 235/45/18, which is pretty close in size.

Is there something about my Tesla that would make this a bad idea?

Has anyone run something similar?

Personally I wouldn't use 245/40R18. I'd sell them for a few bucks and get some fresh winter tires. 245/45R18 works great on this car!

With the small 25.7" diameter your odometer will count fast and you'll lower the car a bit (bad for snow driving). But if you really really want to get one more season out of those Blizzak's, you'll probably be fine.

I have read somewhere of the Model 3 having issues with a very small tire diameter, but I think it was smaller than 25.7".

That’s interesting.

Did you install the Tesla tire pressure sensors, or run without?

I mounted the 245/40/18 tires on my 18" aero wheels that already had the tpms sensors. However now, I have switched over the winter tires on 18" aeros those are 245/45/18's and next spring I will make the switch to some 19" UHP summer performance tires in 245/40/19 and sell the old WRX tires.

I appreciate the feedback.

it’s more about convenience. I know the tires are in great shape because I only used them for one winter.

If I’m going with tire pressure sensors and I need to pull the tire off the rim anyway, I’d consider buying new rubber.

The only reason I'm switching away from running the 245/40/18 tires, is I have a nice set of 19" wheels from my previous Model 3 that I want to run. Otherwise no complaints with the 245/40/18's.
Not sure this is what you mean, but just an FYI... The Subaru WRX wheels will NOT fit the Tesla Model 3, the Subaru WRX has a smaller center bore.
