So how do you actually get a VIN?

There's probably some 'Eye of newt and toe of frog' process that you have to use, but once you do that, how do they tell you you finally have a VIN?

Is it brought to you by a liveried pageboy in a gold envelope on a velvet cushion, or is it maybe sent via email?


The reason I ask is that I know getting insurance and posting the docs is a prerequisite for delivery, but I'm in a vin-required state, so I need the vin first, so I need to know how it's going to get to me so I don't miss it.

The REAL reason is that I just don't want to delay the process

I got my VIN (September 2020) by logging into the Tesla website daily and checking my account. I did get a text message a couple of days after it was posted on the website.x
