So when do I learn the secret handshake?

There should be a consumer warning before you test drive a Model S. I haven't stopped grinning since. In the 2 weeks since the test drive I have already driven my fiance nuts. I fear it will only get worse now that I placed the order for the car. I deferred delivery until January 2017 (my current lease is up at that time). I was informed that I can ask for the delivery to be moved up if/when I decide it is time. After reading through this forum, I have seen a lot of possible rumors of improvements and I would hate to have the car put into production right before those advancements (AP 2.0). Below is my build, I can't wait for her to come home (hopefully well before January)!!

Model S 60
Midnight Silver Metallic Paint
All Glass Panoramic Roof
21" Grey Turbine Wheels
Black Next Generation Seats
Carbon Fiber Décor
Black Alcantara Headliner
Autopilot Convenience Features
Premium Upgrades Package
Smart Air Suspension
Ultra High Fidelity Sound

Congrats! Looks like a fantastic, loaded ride! You will have an awesome new year!
I recommend you forget your password to this account, and only come back in December. Or else, you will start banging your head against the wall in a week, lose your girlfriend in a month and go certifiably insane in three. But hey, at that point, you'd be halfway there!

Congratulations! I do not recall having seen any of the thousands of posts I have read expressing regret over the decision to buy a model S. This may be controversial, but I would not have ordered the 21" wheels. They may look better, but (others please correct me if I am mistaken) they cut into range a bit, go through tires significantly more rapidly, require more expensive tires, and are more easily damaged.

I have heard others say similar things regarding the 21" wheels, but they just complete the look so well and it also helps the tight fit in the garage. There is a small ledge at the front of my garage that the car needs to be above and with the 21" wheels and smart air suspension it just barely makes it. I am not too worried about the range issue as I do not drive long distances on a regular basis and if/when I do take a road trip I am confident there will be sufficient superchargers along the trip (if not then I will just have to put the roughly $10k upgrade on my amex to upgrade to the 75 battery!).

congratulations! Welcome to the new revolution of EV.
Lets see what the big announcement is in a few days. If you can swing it, I would go with a larger battery, I did and I am glad.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks! I think I should be fine with the 60, if not I can always upgrade to the 75 for just an additional $500 (minus the cash back i get on my cc)

Thanks! I doubt that I will last until January (more than likely will request an earlier delivery), but I wanted to hear what big announcements elon and tesla had before possibly locking myself into production early and missing out on something. Also, gives me ample time to get the best offer on my trade in and not feel pressured into a poor deal. As of right now the only thing pressuring me is my own impatience lol.

Congratulations, welcome!

Thanks!!!

Well, so far as I know there is no secret handshake. But I can say that after 10 months (plus a year or more of "following" Tesla before I ordered), the obsession has not diminished.
Welcome, and good luck! I hope your fiance does not mind sharing your affections!

FWIW, I agree with your decision to get the 21" wheels, considering the garage issue. I'll bet that range will never become an issue for you.. I have my S70 for two weeks and range anxiety has disappeared completely; not even close to an issue. Nor would it have been an issue had I bought an S60. In anticipation, you will build up the value of owning a Model S to unrealistically high proportions. When you actually receive it, you will realize that you are even happier with your decision to buy than you unrealistically thought you would be.

So I reached out to my Delivery Specialist last night just to confirm what I was told by my Owner Advisor to be true (regarding bumping up my delivery date to earliest possible delivery at no cost if i choose to). The Delivery Specialist confirmed that was true and asked if I wanted to bump up delivery from December/January to August/Sept. I replied an hour later saying not yet, but I will let him know and then I immediately received an email from Tesla with a VIN and checked My Tesla out and saw the delivery date was changed to Late Aug/Early Sept. This all transpired late last night (11:30pm).

So now I am thinking of just letting it be and picking up the car early. I originally was going to hold off as long as possible for AP 2.0, but who knows when that will drop and if new hardware is even needed for it.

There's no handshake but you do have to learn "The Tesla Nod"

Not to say get the 21" vs. 19" wheels, but I just want to make sure you are aware of some things to make the best decisions for you.
- the 19" and 21" wheels have the same overall diameter. So the size difference lost to the wheel is made up by the tire
- there are aftermarket 19" and 20" wheels that have the same look as the 21" wheel, so the difference in the looks is just the size of the tire
- the 21" will go through tires a good bit faster and have a harder ride since there is less tire thread

Thanks Cyclone for the information. Unfortunately my order is already confirmed, so to make a change I would have to pay $500. I am going to go with the 21"s, but will keep the aftermarket option in my head if the 21" wheels end up wearing too fast or hindering my ride experience.

No problem. The 21"s do have a different look, particular in silver (but also in dark gray). They also have better handljng/performance characteristics. So it's not like you are "buy the looks" and that's it. :)
