Not sure if this has already been mentioned or noticed, however despite having White or Green Decals, those using the HOV lanes on the 10 and 110 in SoCal still had to pay Fastrak fees due to these new HOV lanes being exempted to 'evaluate traffic'. According to Assembly Bill 2405, the exemption has now expired as of 3/1/14. Fastrak should now be free for the MS, Volt, Leaf, etc... which expire in 2019.

I'm now permanently set to "3" and saving $80/mo.

By the way... as of today only ~1100 Green HOV stickers left in CA (White still unlimited). I remember when the Yellow/Prius stickers supposedly added ~$4000 to the value of the cars.

    Assembly Bill No. 2405
    http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billStatusClient.xhtml

"This bill would instead exempt, with specified exceptions applicable to passage on designated state highways, all of the low-emission and hybrid vehicles eligible to use HOV lanes under these provisions, including vehicles that meet the enhanced AT PZEV standards, from toll charges imposed on HOT lanes unless prohibited by federal law. The bill would exclude a toll imposed for passage on a toll road or toll highway, that is not an HOT lane, a toll imposed for crossing a state-owned bridge, or, until March 1, 2014, a toll imposed for passage in HOT lanes designated for State Highway Route 10 or 110, from this exemption. The bill would provide that these changes shall be known as the Choose Clean Cars Act of 2012."

Does the Fastrak work inside the windshield?

    Thanks for posting this info!

This info is also confirmed on Metro ExpressLanes

This excerpt was quoted from the metroexpresslane.com homepage:
"ALT-FUEL VEHICLE UPDATE: Effective February 24, 2014, vehicles displaying a DMV issued White or Green Clean Air Vehicle Decal will be toll-free. All vehicles, including Clean Air Vehicles are required to have a FasTrak® transponder while traveling on the ExpressLanes. To obtain your toll-free trip, set your transponder to switch position 3 (3+ person carpool) prior to starting your trip. Clean energy vehicles that do not have a Clean Air Vehicle Decal must drive with their transponder set according to their vehicle occupancy."
