Back in the day (you know you're old when you say that) when Tesla delivered their 500th car (a moment of silence) there was a SoCal Tesla Road Rally Run to commemorate it as seen in THIS TMC thread. We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun! "TESLAsterone" was King and "A Tesla the Hun!" had not yet been conceived. We had rallies in the summers of 2009, 2010 & 2011 & each time it was the largest gathering of privately owned Teslas in the WORLD! Nothing in 2012. The Hun! would like to participate in a SoCal Tesla Run... anyone else?

I'd like to, but next time I'll be in the general area is late October.

The next (unofficial) run will be up to Teslive next month. I'm heading up on Thursday if you want to join me.

There will be a bunch of Tesla guys driving a rally through SoCal in July... July 7, to be exact. They just all started at the Canadian border.

I'll be out of town on a family trip, but thank YOU!

So all the local clubs are having a dozen or so cars for a meet and greet...
I'm talking a MASSIVE run with > 100 cars and sponsored by TESLA...
    Any interest?

We will leave the Embassy Suites hotel at San Luis Obispo, California in the morning of Sunday, July 7, 2013 and continue all the way to the Mexican border, to finish at the Residence Inn hotel in San Juan Capistrano, California. We expect to have "several" Tesla cars there. Roadsters will likely go directly to the hotel without going to the border first.

You are welcome to join in however you think might work. There is no reason we couldn't have 100 cars doing this.

There is a drive on Sunday at the end of Teslive. Probably 100 cars there. That would make it the biggest privately owned Model S gathering ever.

    Tour de Tesla - TeslaRun

Went last night to an EPIC event. Tesla announced the Battery Swap!
Its not just about the announcement which is a game changer, but even the party (500-1000 people) was an event with music, open bar, food & fun.
The swagger was off the hook!

Speaking of EPIC, yesterday another announcement was made.
A POLICE-ESCORTED Southern California Tesla Run named "
    Tour de Tesla!"
This will be SOLD-OUT so book now: www.TeslaRun.com

This too is EPIC! Awesome job! Unfortunately, I won't be around but your enthusiasm is electrifying!

Web site didn't work (none of the buttons work). Sept 8? Why do you think it will be sold out?

    1. Hmmm, I've tried it on several platforms and no problems with the buttons. Could you please try again and if problematic let me know what platform you're using?
    2. The event planner has done a number of these for Ferrari, Lambo, etc. and the top-shelf events always sell out because they'd rather keep them intimate; in addition, they are going to make an announcement at Teslive as to route and MAJOR sponsorship that is going to further up the ante. I look forward to an awesome event!

Well, restricted access always (can) guarantee a sell out!!!

Sounds like a cool event. See you up in Fremont July 12-14.

I've made arrangements to sneak away from the family vacation a day early and join up with you a day late!
"The Hun!" will be there on Friday but I'll be coming (fashionably) late on Saturday! C U then.

    This just in...
Tour de Tesla (not even posted yet) will leave from the Hawthorne SuperChargers with a Tesla Motors Sponsored light breakfast and then will travel
(police escorted) about 1/2 hour away to its destination (not yet revealed as details still being finalized)!
A few dozen cars already signed up!
    Don't miss out!

What time does it start? Hopefully not too early, since I would be driving up from San Diego.

If "teslarun" is the website, it's pretty light on details. 25 miles?

Around 10 AM give or take 1/2 hour on either side of that

    - - - Updated - - -

I concur. Trying to get them to do some updates but their holding off in doing them until the beginning of August when they will start marketing it more.
I'm just a poor schlepper who longs for those large road rallies that we used to have and wants a big turn out! I'll try to push them to update the site!
Here was my friend doing a helicopter fly-by to take aerial pictures and video from the last official LA rally which was 2011 in Malibu:

Ya, $75 with no real direction. I'll bet I can get a whole bunch more cars gathered and pay nothing. Actually, I have that very plan for the launch of the 3rd annual BC2BC-2014 All Electric Vehicle Rally in the 3rd-ish week of June 2014.

The folks in Europe just assembled 384 electric cars!!! We can beat that, and my goal is to have that many or more at San Diego's Liberty Station.
