Soft plastic, scratches, carpeting?

The forward facing plastic portion of the B pillar and the broad expanse of the same plastic material framing the third row seats is easily scratched. What are you experiences and thoughts about protection? There is carpeting all the way down the sides of the deep trunk; I'm surprised there is not more covering these high-friction areas. Is it possible to get carpet-like covering applied?

Both of my B pillars were scuffed after less than 1 month. Mine appears to be from seat belt hitting them when retracting. I put 3m tape over them for now. Hopefully there will be a fix.
