Software Blind Spot Assist

    Just dreaming out loud... Software that monitors the backup camera stream and
    warns via an icon on the instrument cluster and chime if there is a non-road
    object on the blind spot for the side that the turn signal is activated.

    No new hardware. No retrofit. (Well, maybe a different camera would
    be more effective.)

    Firmware 5.1?

    Not sure, but my understanding is that some cars actually implement it this way. I think most, however, use radar or ultrasonic.
