After uploading the last two software updates have lost several areas of functionality including autopilot, voice commands navigation, max speed limited to 70 and acceleration seems sluggish. Have tried rebooting computer twice. Any suggestions other than taking it in for the second time.

I agreed to schedule some software update for this morning at 2a.m. At about that time someone saw my headlights flashing. This morning I cannot start the car with ether the phone key or the key card. The key card unlocked the door but does not have any effect on the starting. My phone says the car info "updated yesterday," and the little circle is rotating like it is updating, but nothing happens. It shows my car parked where it was yesterday. Customer service has no living person answering, even when I try roadside assistance. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Have you tried rebooting? Press both thumbwheels with foot on brake and hold until Tesla emblem pops up.

don't need to have foot on brake. Don't need to wait for the tesla emblem to pop up. Just hold down the thumbwheels until the screen goes blank.

Foot off reset is UI only and a soft reset. Foot on brake is hard reset of other controllers. I am just repeating holding until the Tesla emblem appears. This from multiple Mobile Techs.

Sorry to drag this on, but I do believe in putting an end to cargo-cult advice.

I have verified with my SC that the brake pedal "hard reset" is misinformation. There is an actual hard reset (not the factory reset), but the procedure is way more complicated than an additional brake hold and can't be done by the owner. The origin of the brake application advice was likely for safety considerations. Of course we all know you CAN reset your UI while driving, which Tesla strongly discourages for obvious reasons.

The "hold until emblem appears" is official advice (it's in the manual). But it's not a requirement. It's akin to waiting 30 seconds when powercycling a cable modem. Essentially, tell the customer to do it longer than required so they don't accidentally stop too early.

Also, if there were a "hard reset" procedure that was more likely to resolve problems, wouldn't that procedure be specified in the manual, particularly if it's just the application of the brake? Why would you ever soft reset vs hard? Esp when they both appear to take the same amount of time?

Owner's Manual said:
Restarting the Touchscreen

If your touchscreen is unresponsive or demonstrates unusual behavior, you can restart it.

Warning: Only restart the touchscreen while the vehicle is stopped and in Park. The car status display, safety warnings, backup camera, etc. will not be visible during the restart.

1. Shift into Park.
2. Hold down both scroll buttons on the steering wheel until the touchscreen turns black and the Tesla logo appears.
3. Wait approximately 30 seconds for the touchscreen to restart. If the touchscreen is still unresponsive or demonstrating unusual behavior after a few minutes, contact Tesla.

Note: Restarting the touchscreen does not power Model 3 off and on.

Well it seems to depend on which SC you talk to or Mobile Tech. I have read a lot more posts from people talking to their SC or Mobile Tech that describe what I describe than what you describe. Who knows for sure?!

From what I read the soft reset only resets the screen and the hard reset resets additional controllers. You also have the power off from the Settings menu.

Did you check your settings? AP, max speed, and acceleration could all be due to a settings change.

I second that advice. It is possible the firmware update changed some of your settings. Annoying, I know, it should not work that way but I’ve heard of it happening so worth a look in the Controls window.

This had never happened to me before, but a bunch of things got scrambled with 28.3.1. It coincided with me mapping keys to profiles, with a bunch of settings (NOA, chill mode, steering preference) all getting changed.
