Software Update 2018.28.5 377ec8b

Went on a small trip today after update from 2018.26 to 2018.28.5.

First thing that I noticed was the car was no longer hugging the inside of curves and playing Pac-man with the reflectors going down the center of the road like 2018.26! The stopping while in traffic was much improved, starting to slow down well before the stopped traffic ahead and easing up to a complete stop. The air-conditioning seemed much colder at the setting I always use.

UPDATE: A second trip on Friday. Air conditioning back to normal. Passed an intersection with large white wide strip across the lane. The 2018.28.5 slightly applied the brakes but not a head jerking and continued on.

(I do not know if this applies to this up date)
While using the Auto pilot and cruising at 80 mph, I had to accelerate to avoid a driver who must have been texting. (now not allowed in Georgia) When the high rate of speed was used, I instantly got chastised with a NAG that disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. But of what I could read, you have exceeded the allowed Auto Pilot speed! Auto Pilot will be disabled for the rest of the trip! Before this only 1 NAG to put pressure on the wheel. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

It has been there forever and is really annoying. Forces you to stop and park to reactivate AP. Should be enough to reactivate it later on the drive if one touched the "Sorry Elon" button 3 times.

It used to trigger a "take over immediately" and deactivate, but it would not deactivate AP permanently. Only 3 missed nag-warnings would do that.
Sure it permanently deactivates on exceeding 90mph/150kph?

On another note, I installed 28.5 yesterday and today in a 150 mile trip it once froze up entirely out of nowhere with the "touchscreen unresponsive, please press both dials on the steering wheel to reset" warning coming up in the IC. Other than that there's little new, although I also thought to notice a speedup of the MCU map portion.

Yes version 28.5 as this bug + dash screen restart when using GPS
All bugs are corrected on latest version 32.2

Yup. And not just in this release. Has always happened to me if I do that.

I got 2018.28.5 yesterday and drove it today. When I make calls, it does not log the calls in outgoing or recent calls. I have not checked if it is logging incoming calls.

I found an additional issue so I will document both fo of them:

- Calls are not being saved in the incoming/outgoing recent calls
- The browser is totally broken. I rebooted the 17" screen and it still would not work. I miss Tesla Waze.
- The release notes page on the 2018.28.5 update was totally blank. This is the first time I have seen this.

I called the Tesla support number and they are researching the issues.

Did a lovely, sunroof-open, tunes-blaring, 90-min backroads drive today in New Mexico.

Not so lovely was the fact that the instrument cluster computer display went haywire again, while driving, not once, but four times. Screen would go black, while the car is at speed, then eventually the gray T logo would appear and the display would come back.

The fourth incident was literally as I pulled into the garage back home and applied the brake to come to a stop. While the car rolled to a stop I noticed the dash display went black again followed eventually by a reboot.

That did it. I called Tesla Roadside Assistance and reported the four computer crashes, and they logged into my car and right away saw the errors and I was told that Tesla engineering knows about this bug and is working on a fix.

Is it just me, or is the navigation tracking much more smoothly than it used to? After installing 28.5, it seems like the navigation on the main screen is updating at 20-30 frames per second when I thought it used to be more like 3-4 frames per second. I wonder if they've further optimized the software. Anyone run those benchmark tests on the MCU lately?

The navigation is definitely working faster than before this update. I have used it for several hours today and I didn't see patches of grey once. Much quicker to load.

Oddly though, for the first few days the owners manual would not load properly from the home button , but it worked fine today.

if you exceed 90mph while on ap it will shut down until you park.

My observations for 2018.26 3bbd9fd

Screen is now keystone incorrect... Note the non parallel edge... Odd.

Maps much faster and as you turn text stays horizontal much better...

All windows or text boxes on screen now have rounded corners.

I've been holding for support for over 2 hours..
So they must have a ton of issues with updates right now!

Now that I think about it, I had already been able to see the parking spot of the car in the iOS app. However, I hadn't noticed if the in-car map had that kind of clarity before this version.

I was thinking it would be useful if Tesla could tell that the car was in the carpool lane and calculate route times accordingly. It seemed like it didn't because the Navi was suggesting a route that had worse traffic than I was experiencing, but I realized my preferred route was better for me because I was in the carpool lane. That was when I checked the map to see the level of detail, and was impressed. Maybe it was already like this and I hadn't looked until I had my idea coincidentally after I got this firmware version. That's why I asked if anyone else noticed an improvement.

As for the AC smell, I haven't smelled it since the day I installed the update.
Your entire post is sarcasm, right?

Same here. Update installed last night and I had my instrument cluster display reboot four times. It only happened while using Navigation though. I called and reported it. Same response from Tesla; “we are working on a patch.”

I wonder how long it will take for the big to be patched and sent out. I have this issue pop up more often when using navigation, but I’ve still had the instrument cluster freeze and reboot on me a couple times when not using nav too, it just doesn’t seem as frequent.

Yes, I think it only happens if you're navigating to a destination. Today I did a lot of driving but never had the nav on, and the screen never went black.

The question about crossing the 90mph on autopilot was referring to it not only deactivating but also banning further use. According to the manual (and previous experience) it only deactivates and allows for subsequent reactivation.
The observation with .32.2 implied deactivation and barring reactivation, same as missing 3 "hands on wheel" strike chimes.
