Just posted on Teslafi - one Model S. Anyone with release notes and experience using? First car to get it is non-AP...

@MelaniainLA you posted this at 5:50AM, and I'm pretty sure that this is displaying in my timezone which is US/Eastern, whereas your location is listed as Los Angeles, CA.

I salute you for your dedication to the cause.

BTW, the Electrek article says that people with older key fobs can request new ones... I'm interested to see how that turns out. I've noticed that recently the range on my fob seems to have been significantly reduced, to the point that just walking around to the back of the car to plug it in results in the car locking (I have walk-away lock on). This is really annoying because then I have to unlock the car to open the charge port, even though I'm still right next to the car (just behind it). I've been wondering if maybe I just need a new battery in my fob, but now I'm wondering if they make some kind of firmware change for security in a recent firmware update (not 2018.32.4 as I don't have it yet).

I might contact the SvC about it and see if they'll give me one of the shiny new crypto fobs.

Congrats! Me too (well wife did the hard work). This child likes sleeping as much as his parents. My daughter still fights sleep but this newborn is ready to sleep and eat and sleep for hours. Loving the extra rest as compared to the bathroom experience with the first kid. Both love our Model S and it's smooth ride and all glass roof.

It didn't say that, it said "On top of the new security features, Tesla says that customers with older Model S key fobs can contact Tesla’s service department to upgrade their key fob." That sounds more like a firmware update to me.

My 2017 X just got out of the service center with .32.4 will not pick it up until tomorrow.

PIN to drive is an interesting idea. Don't need to use it unless you wish, but it certainly adds a significant additional layer of protection. Perhaps more security than any other car. Everyone gets it for free.

I got 2018.32.4 on my S. The PIN to drive feature is something I'm going to try for a bit. It's the same enter pin dialog as valet and speed limit mode, so there is no scrambling of letters going on to prevent reading the fingerprints on the screen.

2018.32.5 seems to be Model 3 only.

Just got the 2018.32.4 Pin to drive update for my Dec. 2016 Model S 75D. Haven't tried it yet but it seems like a good idea for more security.

Wonder how this is going to impact rentals. Imagine if customer sets a PIN and forgets to disable it before returning the car...

There has to be a separate reset mechanism.

On my MX, I have the feature enabled. There is an option to login with your MyTesla credentials in case you have forgotten the pin
