Software Update 2019.12.x

So us S/X folks will get this in December or something. Cool. I guess. Tired of S being deprioritized on updates. And I don't even mean development or features. I just mean, tired of us being deprioritized on having the updates pushed at all.

So it's hard to get excited about 2019.12 when I really have no prospect of seeing it soon. Cool in general though.

No NoA or supercharge preheating but a very good improvement on the browser as well as some new games. I particularly like the new update features.

It seems that it's not easy to get anything related to NoA past the different authorities anywhere outside North America.... It's been a few months and we are waiting (im)patiently.
Got it. I missed the fact that the release notes posted here were not from USA. It will be interesting to see if the US version of this update includes the same features as the 3.

Can someone please check what exactly the new browser is?
Just visit this link with the car browser and it will tell you: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/

Someone already tested, at least on Model 3. I assume it would be the same?

Also interesting, someone with a 2016 AP2 shows Sentry Mode in the release notes.

Added "Model S" to the title as there is already a thread called 2019.12 but that one is for Model 3.

At any rate, it showed up in my December 2016, HW 2.0, S a few hours ago.

Drove around a while. Did not notice any obvious changes.

Nice to have Sentry Mode. However I could not get it to trigger in my garage with all the garage lights off. With garage lights on it worked as advertised.

Here are release notes:

Here is a photo of the AP2 sentry mode information window.

In plain text (quickly typed up, any typos are mine):

Sentry Mode allows your vehicle to be aware of its surroundings while parked by using its sensors, microphones, cameras and computers. While active, Sentry Mode evaluates the risk of theft or vandalism and records video, activates visual and auditory alarms, and sends you mobile notifications as necessary. Note: Additional Battery power is consumed while Sentry Mode is active. To enable Sentry Mode battery level must be greater than 20%.

Sentry Mode will play loud music when the alarm is triggered. Avoid leaving sentient beings in the vehicle when Sentry Mode is active.

Sentry Mode will send recorded footage to Tesla for temporary backup and feature improvement. You can enable or disable this collection any time via the DATA SHARING video clip setting in Controls > Settings > Safety & Security. Please refer to your Owner's manual for more information.
