Solarglass Roof installation
Boy, thanks for the great feedback and pictures. I guess they didn't mind your watching a picture taking.
Boy, what a job. Looking great. The PW on wall is super clean. How will the wires be mounted, in wall?
I have a steep driveway most likely steeper than yours. Trucks will slip tires
Maybe I can talk them into my side walkway that has only two single 7" steps to move the PW in on their dolly and park trucks on street.
No tires marks.
we cant see the pic you just posted
Oh, great, motorized handcart. Why not anti grav and just slide it in.Hi Charles. The back of the Powerwall has a hole for routing the wires into the wall. In our installation there is a flexible conduit in the wall that runs to just below the top sill plate as shown in this photo. This upper conduit is hidden by the garage door tracks. This upper conduit will eventually be where the connection to the Powerwall are made from the boxes on the outside.

Regarding the walk, that may work. If you look at the dolly they use it has a battery and a motor to drive the wheels.
I am curious what the response to your request will be. Please post when you know. Thanks....
Need to talk to electricians about that level 2 ticket for getting Powerwall to limit frequency change when needing to cut off inverters.
We are about 2-3 days from getting finished. But with the shelter in place order, Tesla had to pull the crews off the install. The crews showed up this morning ready to work, but they got a phone call soon after telling them to secure the site and leave.
So do you at least have a watertight roof on your house? Fingers crossed.
Bruce.

Will also post this question as it's own thread.
Do you mind if I ask how much more you might have paid for pre-roof preparation?
We were originally asked if we could absorb $3,500 for pre-installation preparation. Now, when asked to approve the design and payment details, the cost of pre-installation is $8,950. We spoke to the rep and he said the extra cost is for skip sheathing (308 sheets at $25/sheets + labor).
Wondering if you came across this issue as well.
TIA
No. Our roof sheeting was in very good condition. The tile roof we are replacing with the Solarglass was about 10 years old and had a number of cracks, but no damage to the underlying layers of paper or OSB sheets .
I think we paid for some new OSB sheets in remodel last year where we added on a little space. I also remember we paid to replace some OSB when they put on the previous roof 10 years ago. I think that is pretty common thing to do.
When we first looked at solar (April 2019) we were going with a cement tile roof and solar on top of that. One of quotes we got then had a 8-9K line item for replacing the OSB sheets, just in case.
Do you have a link for the docs/pictures?Updated document to include how the system looks in rain and how water protection works, combination of glass and underlayment. Also added pictures and videos of rain on solarglass roof. It is sort of mesmerizing.
