Hello! We recently just picked up vanity plates for our Model Y in Toronto and was wondering if anyone has experience driving solo in the HOV lane with blue plates.
We didn't think much about it because my partner and I are almost always in the car together and just don't use the HOV lane that often.
The MTO site seems to indicate that it's GREEN PLATES which can go in the HOV lane, not EVs, even though an EV is the only way to get a green plate. So by the letter of the law it seems blue plates on a Tesla wouldn't be HOV eligible.
That said the spirit of the law seems to be encouraging EV purchases, and I would imagine that no OPP officer would bother pulling a Tesla over because it's clearly a green vehicle...?
Thoughts?
