Interesting if this does impact those cars ever supporting L3 autonomous driving, despite any FSD software purchase..

Cars supplied to the UK are specifically mentioned.

The details of this are very scarce and it's suggested the original source was from a whistleblower within Tesla.

Treat it with some healthy scepticism, until seen for real.
 
This is getting a bit endemic. I understand that Tesla are now thinking of supplying some cars without a roof... That's taking cost cutting to the extreme and I bet the car will not be any cheaper for it.

They will not be painting the cars next.
 
Did you guys read the article? It’s due to the chip shortage and the fact that the module in question is not used.

It's only not used because it's the redundant backup. Redundant backups are usually not used.

The issue is... A requirement for L3 is redundancy. So these cars, as things stand, can never support L3 yet I am sure Tesla will still sell you FSD - that feels wrong.
