Me: Right, it was a model S, not a model 3.

Me: There are so few of them around us [NE Ohio] that we sort of acknowledge each other when we see each other for driving the same car.
Son: But it wasn't the same car...
Me: It was still a Tesla.
Son: ...oookayyy...
Me: Think of it as joining a club where you say hi to all the members every time you see them
Son: You didn't do that in your old car...
Me: It was a Corolla, there's nothing special about it...
Son: .....
Me: ..... [waiting] ....
Son: Hey, you gave me that car .....

Same thing in Texas for Pickup Truck Owners. We always raise a figure at a passing pickup. I started doing it for other Tesla owners too, but most of my roads were I see passing Teslas are highways.

I don't see a ton of Tesla's during my regular commute, but waves feel uncommon for the most part when I do come across one. Most of my driving is on 71 between Medina and Westlake

I'd say 9 times out of 10, when I pass another Tesla we wave at each other. I think the rarity you mention is one of the reasons, in a few years when there are as many of them as Toyotas then it may not be as frequent.

I’m in the other corner of Ohio and there are enough Teslas out here that only the Model 3 owners wave, and even then most of them don’t. The X and S owners have never once waved.

This made me laugh so hard....read it to my wife and she laughed just as hard....only because I could see my 15 year old son saying the EXACT same thing.....I gave Him my Civic after I bought my P3D+!

My kid didn't have an issue with make vs model. He actually sees things more as electric vs gas.

However, I don't wave at Volts and Bolts.

That is my experience as well except for the Tesla drivers who are also pilots.
