Someone check my math?

I have ordered a Tesla Model Y AWD LR MSM with 19". I wanted FSD with some extra money I have coming from my refinance but after doing some back of hand math I would be better off buying FSD after I take delivery because in California the vehicle is taxed on the total price. Since FSD is a software upgrade there should be no tax after delivery. Someone correct me if I am wrong here a and please check my math.

Let me know in the comments if I have made a bad assumption

TLDR I would save almost 700 bucks getting FSD after the fact

As far as I’ve heard from other people, Tesla will charge you tax on your FSD upgrade. All the aftermarket options (hardware/software) are charged tax.

Yes, the only advantage is that you'll save some money on the annual registration fee (including the fee charged when buying the vehicle), as that's based on the MSRP (and ignores you buying FSD later).

I would keep it before delivery unless the sales tax is much lower than the vehicle tax. The other reason to include it in the sale is it the option will likely not be covered by your insurance unless it was included in original purchase.
